Day 4: Katlyne

Day 4 I am thankful for Katlyne. Here's the story:

Katlyne and I lived on the same floor in Dancer last year. Beings that I had a boyfriend on campus at the time and didn't have much interest in anything else but him, I didn't meet a whole lot of girls from my floor. When that ended in October, I realized that I hadn't made many friends on my floor! Katlyne's roommate Danielle invited me to "Christmas Movie Extravaganza" (something I must explain in a later post). I tagged along with them to the event, and we have been friends ever since. Katlyne and I are sometimes so much alike it's scary. We often think we have the same brain waves because we'll say or do the same thing at the same time. I am so glad that she came into my life because now I have added a new best friend to my list.

Foooooooootball!

Saturday was our first home Panther football game. Man I love football. It was also the day of the Iowa/Iowa State game. Now, I'm a Hawkeye fan all the way, but no one deserved to win THAT game. It was ugly. I stopped watching because it was time to go to some PANTHER FOOTBALL! Katlyne and I left at halftime because we were bored. The end result was 59-0, with our Panthers winning over Central State. Some photos from the day:

Happy Birthday, Katlyne!

Katlyne's birthday was one week after mine. Saturday (August 25) a bunch of us went to HuHot for supper because Katlyne loves HuHot and didn't get it all summer. The evening was complete with decorations.

May 4

Moving day! But first, Joyce, Katlyne, and I went to Panera for breakfast-YUM. My parents showed up around 10:30 and we started moving stuff out! Sad/happy day. We finished around 1:15 and headed to BWW for lunch. (Katlyne went with us). My parents headed home after that. I dropped Katlyne off at her car so she could head back home and I went to Abby's apartment. I have to stay in CF this weekend because I'm getting certified as a lifeguard! So here's my beautiful host for the weekend:

May 3

Oh, Thursday. I had a paper due tonight, so I powered through it before noon. Go me! I had lunch with Lucas and then went to work for the afternoon (last day until the fall!)  After work Katlyne and I had supper and then walked with Jonathan, his friend Shelby, Eddie, and Courtney to Wynne's apartment for a French class get together. Who else showed up? Tatiana! (Grad student who taught our French class last semester) It was such a fun night! Here's just one photo from the night:

May 2

I was slightly productive today....but only because I had to be. I spent all day working on my papers for Religions of the World. I even had time to spare when I got them done. Jen, Morgan, and Danielle all moved out today. Sad day :( Especially because Jen isn't coming back to UNI! What will I do without her.....

Highlight of my day: Getting a pedicure with this beautiful girl:

She's graduating this year, so I won't get to see her beautiful face at Relay meetings anymore :( BUT she's working on campus so I'll still see her at church :) 

I went to Hudson tonight for the last choir practice of the semester. A little sad, but not really because I'll be back in September :) 

I got to meet Katlyne's mom! I get excited about the weirdest things.....

April 30

Monday of finals week. What did I do?  Pretty much nothing academic-related. Zac drove up this morning for a visit. We went to lunch with my French class at MyVerona. Yum! And also, adorable. Flavia is so cute. We also went to Scratch with some Relay people (Emily D, Emily L, Lindsey, and Paige). We had supper with Jen and Lindsey and Katlyne. Then we went to the church because the Praise band had a lil' concert! It was awesome. I set up my computer and skyped with Mrs. T so she could hear us. It was awesome! So much fun. April 27

Last day of classes!!!! Woot woot! Now just one test, 4 papers, 2 work shifts, and a lifeguard certification class separate me from SUMMER!!! SO. EXCITED. (if you couldn't tell.)

Katlyne and I went to a big dance party. It was so much fun!!

April 18

I worked again today, and then went to Joyce's senior piano recital! She was also very, very good. After the recital Katlyne and I went to the Men's Glee Club spring concert. Very, very entertaining. Here's Katlyne and Brandon. Aren't they cute?! :)

April 15

I was still recovering from Relay by the time Sunday rolled around. I went to church and then had brunch with Cristy and Katlyne. I then got some things accomplished (but not much). I was supposed to work, but I didn't. I called in and said I had a church conflict(which I really did!) Praise and Worship band had a little concert at the church around 6:30. After our performance, Rob bought me Panchero's. (It was my first time there.) What a nice guy! Then Zac came to visit! My photo is of the band :)

April 12

CLOSER TO RELAY!! Woot woot! Katlyne and I spent our evening in the lounge baking cookies to sell at Relay (as a fundraising exec, I had to bake some for the food stand). She did some homework and I made our team poster/did some other Relay stuff. Joyce joined us later for a little while. Successful night :)

April 10

Truthfully, I don't even remember a whole lot about last week because it's all just a blur. So I'll just grace you all with the photo of the day :)

Katlyne, Tiffany, and I went to Scratch bakery and I started the Scratch cupcake tour! So exciting. You get a stamp every time you try a new flavor. Once you try all the flavors, you get a free t-shirt and (I think) your name on the wall! I shall complete this before I graduate UNI. 

April 9

And so it begins. Relay week. WAHOOO!!!

I did manage to get a workout in today. I also went to my classes (hooray!). Not that that's ever a problem :)

I worked this afternoon, and we were short-staffed. Which was a little annoying. But what can you do?

After work I had supper with Katlyne. I planned to be productive (and I really should have been), but, alas, I was not. Oh well.

We had our last CAC meeting before Relay tonight. Scary!! It was just under 2 hours long. And surprisingly I'm not that tired. We'll see if I feel the same way in the morning....

On the plus side, we surpassed our team goal today :)

April 3

Ok, first of all....I have raised $100 IN THE PAST 24 HOURS. The people in my community are seriously, amazing. I'm emailing out the survivor letters today to let them know that I am honoring them. Relay is in 9 DAYS. So excited. Katlyne and I went to Bank Night this evening and received our free t-shirts since we both raised $100 each before March 1. That's my photo of the day. The rest of my day was pretty uneventful, but incredibly productive. Awwwww yeah. So proud of myself. Aaaand now it's time to get some much needed sleep.

April 2

I headed back to school this morning. After my classes I was productive! (kinda) I got some Relay stuff done. Katlyne and I worked out and then had supper with Jen, Morgan, and Tiffany. After supper I headed to the library to get some homework done. I had a committee meeting at 8 and an executive meeting at 8:30 for Relay. It's crunch time!! 10 days. SO EXCITED. But, I probably won't sleep much between now and then. So much to do!

March 29

I don't have much to say about today, except for the fact that I SAW THE HUNGER GAMES MOVIE FINALLY. By myself. Yep. I went to a movie by myself. I liked the movie. For the most part it stuck to the book. But it could have been way shorter. They made some parts way too drawn out. It kind of annoyed me. Also, it was food on a stick day in the Rialto.

March 28

Hump day. About freakin' time. This week has been so slow. I forced myself to get out of bed this morning and work out. After getting ready for the day I headed to the campanile with the gallon of ice cream that I was storing my freezer. CAC had free Root Beer floats today because it's campus crusade. Hoorah. They were delicious. I went to class and then ate lunch with...get this...Christopher Gray. I always see him in the dining center eating at the same time I am alone. Usually I eat with Courtney but she had other plans today so I asked him to eat with me. We were civil, and it was actually kind of nice. After lunch I was planning on being productive but we all know how well THAT usually turns out. I went to the library at 3 to work with Katlyne on our geography project. We're in the same class with the same professor, just at different times. We have a travel guide project due in a couple weeks, so her and I are doing the same country. We headed back to the dorms later and had supper with Tiffany, Jen, Danielle, and Morgan. After supper we sat outside and Danielle painted our nails. What a nice gal! I had a team captain meeting for Relay at 7 (which took all of 30 minutes). I did some homework and took a shower and now I think I'll lie in bed and play Draw Something (SO ADDICTING).

March 27

Well, I'm really lucky. For my religions class, we don't take tests. Instead, she gives us information to write essays and we have to turn them in by 5pm. On the day our essays are due, we don't have class because she has open office hours. Soooo of course, I don't ever work ahead. I'm lucky because my 12:30 class got cancelled, too. So after I went to my 8:00 and showered, I wrote my essays. I took a break for lunch and then started back up again. Surprisingly, I got them all done before my 2:00 class. Go me! I was pretty impressed with myself.

One would think that if we have a large number of people eating lunch together, we would choose a larger table. Of course not. I had lunch with Katlyne, Danielle, Morgan, Jen, and Danielle's friend AB. We chose a small table and all crammed around it. This is what the table looked like.....

Since I finished all my homework, I was in a particularly good mood, and ridiculously hyper. Jen, Morgan, Katlyne, and I played Clue. When Jen went to class, Tiffany joined us and we played Phase 10. (If you know me well enough, you know that I was REALLY EXCITED about this, because I love playing games.) We ate supper and then I went to St. Stephen's for choir practice. I was not there very long because I had a committee meeting to go to for CAC. When I returned from the meeting, Katlyne and I went to play tennis (because I was annoying her with my insane amount of energy, so she wanted me to burn it off.) It worked, because I was ready for bed by the time we got back. Successful day!

March 25

I had to play at Hudson today. When I got back from that I did some homework and got ready for the day. I had brunch with Katlyne and then worked from 2-6:45. I grabbed some supper and then headed to the church because I had to be the accompanist. When I got back from church I was so tired that I just crashed. My photo is from a spot on campus. The ground is LOVING this weather because....everything is so green!

March 24

S-A-T-U-R-D-A-Y, HEY! What a waste of my Saturday...sorta. I worked alllll day and we were busy. I got off work, picked KAtlyne up,  and then we went to get Panda Express. YUM. We ate while watching the Blind Side on tv. We then got all dressed up to go to the Strayer-Wood Theather for the 10 minute play festival that Danielle was in. It was actually really interesting!
